Sky Acquires UK Rights To Elementary

Sky has acquired the UK rights to Sherlock Holmes drama Elementary as well as Arrow, Vegas and The Following.

CBS drama Elementary is heading to the UK as Sky picks up the broadcast rights to the series. Elementary has found itself the centre of much media attention over the past months due to its perceived similarities to Steven Moffat’s BBC One drama Sherlock. However, there are notable differences with Elementary set in modern day New York (instead of London) and stars Jonny Lee Miller as the famous sleuth and Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson – another big difference between the two dramas. Elementary will air on Sky Living in the Autumn; after it has made its debut on CBS in America.

The CW’s new comic-book series Arrow, based on the Green Arrow comics, will air on Sky One later this year. The CW hopes that Arrow will be follow in the footsteps of superhero drama Smallville which ran for an impressive ten years. Arrow stars Stephen Amell whose previous credits include the first season of Dante’s Cove, recurring role in second series of The Vampire Diaries and roles in Private Practice, New Girl, Hung and CSI.

CBS drama Vegas, a crime drama based in 1960s Las Vegas, starring Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis will air on Sky Atlantic as will Kevin Williamson’s new thriller series The Following which stars James Purefoy and Kevin Bacon.
