Karen Gillan to star in A Touch of Cloth

Departing Doctor Who actress Karen Gillan is to appear in the third instalment of A Touch of Cloth.

The actress has revealed she will appear in Sky One‘s spoof police drama which is penned by Charlie Brooker. The first instalment of the parody is due to air on the broadcaster over the Bank Holiday weekend and will star John Hannah and Suranne Jones. A second instalment has already been filmed and will air at a later date. Gillan will appear in the third instalment which will likely air on Sky One in 2013.

“In the third one, we’re back to murder but it’s very close to home. Things just got personal’ is the phrase. In the second one they’re constantly saying, ‘You’ve forgotten which side you’re on!’ In the third one it’s ‘Things just got personal!'” – Charlie Brooker speaking to the Radio Times

Brooker revealed filming on the third Touch of Cloth was about to begin and confirmed the appearance of Suranne Jones in the instalment. Details of Gillan’s character have not yet been revealed. The actress will make her last appearance in Doctor Who, along with her co-star Arthur Darvill, in the forthcoming seventh season of the veteran BBC sci-fi.
