Third Series Of Him and Her for BBC Three

The third series of Him and Her for BBC Three returns next year, but what does Russell Tovey and channel controller Zai Bennett think of it all?

Zai Bennett, Controller, BBC Three says, “Him & Her is on creative fire at the moment so we are delighted to be able to order its third season for BBC Three. We can’t wait to see what will happen next to Becky and Steve in our favourite anti-rom com.

The critically acclaimed comedy Him and Her, currently enjoying a successful second run with 2.1 million consolidated viewers on the BBC’s youth channel was revealed yesterday to have been green lit for a third run of six half hour episodes from writer Stefan Golaszewski to air next year. Today the news was met with a host of comments from those involved with the series.

Cheryl Taylor, Controller, Comedy Commissioning: “Him & Her” has continued to delight audiences with its extraordinary high calibre writing, acting and production values. Becky and Steve and their excruciating circle of family and friends have become a firm fixture on BBC Three and we are thrilled to have a new series for next year.

Kenton Allen, chief executive of Big Talk, will once again produce the series, which stars Sarah Solemani and Russell Tovey as Becky and Steve as well as regular cast Kerry Howard, Joe Wilkinson, Ricky Champ and Camille Coduri.

Russell Tovey adds, “I am over the moon we’ve been recommissioned, I am completely obsessed with Him & Her, and to get the chance, once again, to spend 7 seven hot weeks in a confined box with all the cast and crew and create a third series makes me giddy with happiness.”

Series two debuted with 820,000 viewers, up 160,000 from series one with a 4.7% audience share. Consolidated figures, including digital views via iPlayer, topped 2.1 million.

Production on the third run begins in 2012 for transmission later in the year.
