Irish Daily Star Editor Suspended over Duchess Pictures

The owners of the Irish Daily Star newspaper have suspended editor Michael O’Kane with immediate effect.
He published the topless pictures of the Duchess of Cambridge which had first been printed in Closer (French version) magazine in France.
The Saturday edition of the paper provoked outrage with co-owner Richard Desmond threatening to “close down the joint venture”. Desmond’s company, Northern and Shell, runs Channel 5, Daily Star, Daily Express and several magazines in the UK.
Northern and Shell jointly own Irish Daily Star with Independent Star Limited.
