Changes afoot for X Factor Live Shows
The live stage of ITV’s The X Factor is to undergo a shake-up in a bid to halt falling ratings, according to reports.
Primarily, last year’s opening twist, which saw all four judges forced to send home one of their acts before a public vote, has been axed. Instead judges will only take three contestants through to the live shows with them.
Meanwhile, Simon Cowell is attempting to lure big names to perform on the shows with Leona Lewis and Ne-Yo already tipped to perform. The show’s Creative Director Brian Friedman will return to Britain next week to plan the shows.
“Producers know they are under pressure to make the live shows even better than last year. Brian is taking personal control of things and is determined to pull everything out of the bag. The sudden death elimination stunt won’t happen this year after viewers complained it was too harsh.
“Having fewer finalists from the start also means viewers will get to know those who are left much better and hopefully build bonds with them. Other twists haven’t been ruled out, though.” – X Factor Insider
The X Factor continues on ITV this Saturday with its boot camp stages.
