ITV to axe regional news jobs
ITV are to axe 45 jobs from regional news as the network looks to make more news cuts in the future.
Media Guardian reports that the 45 jobs to be axed will be mainly technical and support roles although editorial jobs could be lost in the next round of cuts.
ITV are currently restructuring the backbone of regional news on ITV1 to make it more cost effective. MG reports that a new graphics unit would be set up in Birmingham with new 3D and HD systems available for regional operations.
The news comes as Ofcom begins awarding licences to new local TV broadcasters in major towns and cities. Some of these are expected to be on the air early next year.
ITV doesnt care about regional news it wants to destroy it and all news made in london or manchester so why not have ATV NEWS and stuff ITV lets have an up to the minute news channel from the BIGGEST NAME IN TELEVISION HISTORY thats ATV.
