Fox News airs live suicide following car chase
Fox News has apologised after airing footage of a man appearing to shoot himself in the head following a car chase.
During the afternoon news programme ‘Studio B’ the news channel was following a live car chase from Phoenix, Arizona. Host Shepard Smith was providing commentary who voiced concerns after the suspect got out of the car and started to behave erratically.
Despite this the network failed to cut in time and viewers watched the man shoot himself in the head. Officials said later the man died of his injuries.
Smith was seen to shouting “Get off it” several times before they quickly threw to a commercial break. After this Smith offered an apology with the network citing human error as the chase was on a 5 second delay.
Live car chases have become a phenomenon with American news channels and local stations over the past 20 years.
Never mind it’s just a mild indiscretion in the pursuit of excellence in journalism….
Isn’t it time you aimed for a career as a tabloid junk journalist too? Fox always knows best…
