Great Expectations delivers ratings for BBC One
BBC One‘s latest adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations deliver over six million viewers to the channel last night.
The lavish adaptation, starring Gillan Anderson, David Suchet and Douglas Booth, got off to a strong start with 6.6 million viewers; the BBC has opted to adapt the novel in three parts. Great Expectations easily out-rated ITV1 one-off drama Fast Freddie, The Widow and Me which starred Laurence Fox and Tamzin Outhwaite. The drama had just 3.9 million viewers according to overnight figures although it had a combined audience of 4.1 million when ratings for the time-shift channel are added.
Great Expectations continues tonight on BBC One at 9pm.
