O'Leary on controversial X Factor decision

The X Factor host Dermot O’Leary has defended his actions during last night’s controversial results show.

In last night’s show Carolynne Poole faced ‘joke act’ Rylan Clark in the sing-off and lost her place on the show after the vote was taken to deadlock.
Louis Walsh was the final judge to make a decision on who should leave the competition – at first he appeared to save Poole – but after some probing from O’Leary, had a change of heart and instead opted to take the vote to deadlock.
O’Leary has insisted that Walsh had to state who he wanted to “send home” and not just who he wanted to stay in the competition which is why he could not accept the judge’s initial decision.

Defending himself on Twitter, O’Leary wrote: “Weird show. For those asking I have to ask who the judges are sending home, not save. Straight question. Been like that for 9 years (sic)!
