ABC orders remake of Rev
A US remake of BBC Two’s hit comedy Rev is in the works for ABC.
The project will be scripted by Desperate Housewives showrunner Bob Daily, reports Deadline.
The UK version of Rev started in 2010 and stars Tom Hollander as vicar Adam Smallbone. The series recently won the South Bank Award and a BAFTA for ‘Best Comedy’.
The series followed Smallbone’s move from a rural parish in Suffolk to an inner-city London Church, while the US remake will chart its lead’s move from Wisconsin to a failing parish in Chicago.
Daily will producer the show alongside Kenton Allen and Matthew Justice of Big Talk Productions, the company behind the original series. Hollander, who co-created the UK series, will serve as a consultant on the remake.
The BBC has already confirmed a third series of the popular sitcom.
