Les Dennis joins ITV soap
Les Dennis has signed up for a one-week role in Crossroads – and could become a regular on the ITV soap if his character proves a hit with the daytime viewers. The former Family Fortunes host will start filming the part of psychiatrist Dr Richmond, as soon as he returns from holiday in South Africa.
Yvon Grace, new motel boss, told The Sun: “Les’s character is a really nice, down-to-earth, warm-hearted psychiatrist. I thought this role would suit his character really well.
“The storyline is that he gets involved with maid Beena Shah, who basically becomes a bunny boiler. He is sent in to sort her out.
“Les has been initially cast for around a week’s worth of shows but there is a lot of opportunity for him to become a regular.”
“The women are beautiful, the men are gorgeous and the plots fantastic,” she said.
Grace took over as producer of Crossroads when ITV decided that three million viewers wasn’t enough, and the soap needed a boost. Insiders at Carlton believe the revamp is to actually ‘close’ the studios down to save money and the revamp is a deliberate attempt to have Crossroads axed for good.
