Katherine Jenkins special for ITV1

Singer Katherine Jenkins is to showcase a series of songs for ITV1 in a one-off special.
The mezzo-soprano has won countless awards and a worldwide army of fans following her success on American telly’s version of Strictly Come Dancing in Dancing With The Stars.

“To have my own special on ITV is a huge honour”  Katherine said, adding, “I’m incredibly excited by it.”

The 75 minute special will showcase a series of spectacular song and dance routines in an evening of glitz and glamour. The programmes is described as a show awash with old school elegance and style, Katherine will take to the stage to perform a variety of classic songs and sensational dances, including the Waltz, the Argentine Tango and a breath-taking tap routine inspired by Fred & Ginger.

“We are hoping to create a show of Hollywood glamour combined with good, old fashioned entertainment and it’s wonderful for me to get the opportunity to combine my love of singing with a relatively new passion, dance! I’ll be dusting off my tap and ballroom shoes and I can’t wait!” Katherine adds.

Also guesting on the show is comedy actor Mark Benton who will introduce performances from guest stars including quartet, Il Divo, vocal harmony group, The Overtones, Welsh choir and Britain’s Got Talent finalists, Only Boys Aloud and winner of Strictly Come Dancing, Tom Chambers.

ITV’s Controller of Entertainment John Kaye Cooper says, “Every year ITV1 are delighted to offer our viewers a wide range of music and entertainment specials. Last year we had Michael Buble, and Beyonce, and this year the 100th Royal Variety Performance, Rod Stewart’s Christmas, and also in December this glamorous special showcasing Katherine’s acclaimed dance skills and award winning vocal talent, with a highly popular line up of star guests – a musical treat not to be missed”
