John Bishop's Big Year to air on BBC One

Stand-up comedian John Bishop is to front a new two-part show for BBC One.

John Bishop’s Big Year will see John perform two stand-up sets dissecting the past year’s incredible events. Filmed in front of a live studio audience, John will address the highs and lows of the past 12 months with the help of archive clips and bespoke sketches.

2012 was the year that saw the fantastic Jubilee celebrations and the amazing Olympic and Paralympic Games. However, alongside these events, it was also the year we failed miserably at yet another major football tournament, stoically endured a miserable recession, found something called the God Particle, got hot and flustered at Fifty Shades of Grey and had the wettest June since the dawn of time.

John says: “At the end of every year newspapers and magazines often do a summary of the world in pictures reflecting back on the year just passed. John Bishop’s Big Year is a much more alive version of those retrospectives – with footage from actual events interspersed with our very own comedy sketches and narratives, celebrating what has been a momentous year.”

John Bishop’s Big Year will be Executive Produced by Karl Warner for the BBC. It will air on BBC One later this year.
