Cybermen To Return To Doctor Who
It has been officially confirmed that the Cybermen will once again return to Doctor Who in an episode penned by Neil Gaiman.
The official BBC Doctor Who site confirmed the return of the Cybermen today and that the episode would be penned by Gaiman who wrote the award-winning season six episode The Doctor’s Wife. It was confirmed last month that Gaiman was writing another script for Doctor Who; in the batch of episodes that will air in 2013 on BBC One.
“We can confirm that the Cybermen will be menacing the universe once again when Doctor Who returns for a run of eight epic episodes in spring, 2013.The iconic enemies will feature in an adventure directed by Stephen Woolfenden and written by the acclaimed Neil Gaiman whose previous episode was the Hugo Award-winning, ‘The Doctor’s Wife’.

The Cybermen were last seen in the penultimate episode of season six; Closing Time which guest starred James Corden. The episode met with mixed reactions from fans and critics upon its airing. Prior to the Cybermen’s appearance in that episode the cyborgs made minor appearances in A Good Man Goes To War and The Pandorica Opens. Prior to the Pandorica Opens, the penultimate episode of season five, the Cybermen’s last appearance was the 2008 Christmas Special, The Next Doctor, which starred David Tennant and David Morrissey.
