Me and Mrs Jones axed after one series

BBC One comedy Me and Mrs Jones has been axed after just one series.

The show’s writer Oriane Messina confirmed the news on Twitter, explaining: “We just didn’t get the ratings we need. Tough time slot didn’t help but we know lots of you loved it.”
Me and Mrs Jones starred Sarah Alexander as single mother Gemma who struggles to divide her time between her children and the men in her life. Neil Morrissey played Gemma’s ex-husband Jason, while Nathaniel Parker and Robert Sheehan also starred in the series as Gemma’s admirer and another of the character’s love interests respectively.
Messina went on to thank fans for their support: “Your support has been amazing, making the show trend and being so loyal, thank you. BBC One is a tough nut to crack.”
Me and Mrs Jones launched with 3.1 million viewers in October but ratings had dropped to 1.7 million by the end of the series.
