PrimevalRatings for ITV’s time-travelling series Primeval rose slightly on Saturday evening but once again failed to break the 4 million mark. Primeval returned to ITV1 for a fourth season two weeks ago and premiered with 4.4 million viewers but since the subsequent episodes have failed to break the 4 million mark. In fact the second episode of the new series saw ratings drop to 3.2 million viewers. While figures have recovered since then they still remain relatively low.

Saturday evening’s episode of Primeval was seen by 3.8 million viewers compared to 5.4 million viewers for The Magicians on BBC One. The episode rated slightly higher than last week’s instalment though, a rise of roughly 100,000 viewers. A fifth season of Primeval has already been ordered as part of the co-production deal put together last year in the wake of the drama’s original cancellation.
