MPs critical over George Entwistle pay-off
The BBC has been severely criticsed by a group of MPs over the decision to reward George Entwistle for ‘failure’.
The former director general of the BBC resigned after just 54 days in the top job following the Jimmy Savile child sex abuse allegations which engulfed the corporation.
He received £450,000 when he resigned last month.
The public accounts committee has said today that the decision to reward Entwistle with the pay-off was a “cavalier use of public money”.
Yesterday the Pollard inquiry released its findings into a dropped Newsnight investigation which featured allegations of sexual abuse by Jimmy Savile. It was headed by former Sky News boss Nick Pollard and can be viewed here.
