The Snowman and The Snowdog pull in ratings for Channel 4
Last night’s The Snowman and The Snowdog, the sequel to Christmas classic The Snowman, proved a popular with Channel 4 viewers as the new animation peaked with 5.8 million viewers.
It is the highest rating Channel 4 programme to be broadcast on Christmas Eve in over ten years and the channel’s fourth highest rating programme of 2012.
An average audience of 4.9 million viewers tuned in to see how the continuation of the classic Raymond Briggs Christmas story The Snowman would unfold.
A repeat of the original animation also performed well on Channel 4 as it drew an audience of 2.2m and peaked with 2.8m viewers.
The film is broadcast every Christmas on Channel 4 and Sunday’s broadcast was the highest overnight performance the film has achieved in 13 years.
The Snowman and The Snowdog will can be seen on Channel 4 again at 5.35pm on Sunday the 30th of December. Figures for the Christmas Day screening will be released later.
