Twin Peaks To Return?

David Lynch is reportedly in talks with NBC about reviving the cult series for a third season.

Reports about the potential revisit state that it would pick up directly from where the second (and final) season ended rather than 25 years on. The reports were fuelled by an interview with the soap’s co-creator Mark Frost who recently said that a revival is “something we talk about from time to time” and that the offers a “rich trove to draw from“.

Twin Peaks launched on ABC in 1990 and followed FBI Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) as he investigated the murder of school girl Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) in a small logging town; Twin Peaks.

The show was a huge hit for ABC thanks to its quirky nature, odd characters and supernatural elements and a second season followed but made the critical mistake of answering the show’s key question; who killed Laura. With the mystery resolved ratings began to slide and the storylines became increasingly odd.

ABC axed Twin Peaks following its second season but the soap wasn’t quite dead as Lynch produced a prequel movie; Fire Walk With Me. The movie was widely panned.
