James Arthur remains at number one with Impossible

X Factor winner is defying all the odds by remaining at number one in the singles chart, the first of 2013.

His winning single, Impossible, has sold nearly 971,000 copies after just four weeks since release. He missed out on the Christmas number one position to The Justice Collective.

Although ratings declined for the last series of the X Factor, Arthur has gone on to have more success with his winning single than previous winners such as Little Mix.

Impossible was originally released by Shontelle, which charted at No.9 in 2010.
