Genie Francis Returning To General Hospital
Genie Francis is returning to General Hospital ahead of the medical soap’s landmark 50th anniversary.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Genie Francis has signed a deal to return to ABC’s last remaining soap to reprise her role of Laura Webber-Spencer. The character of Laura was one-half of the super-couple of the 1980s, Luke and Laura. Francis played Laura on/off between 1977 and 2008.
The actress has agreed to reprise the role once more and will begin filming on General Hospital this week. Entertainment Weekly reports Francis agreed to return on the condition that Frank Valentini, the soap’s executive producer, could dream up a good reason why Laura has been absent from Port Charles and away from her family for several years. “It’s not for me to tell them how to run their show. But my biggest concern was that there had to be a good reason for [Laura] to stay away from [her] family.”
Francis was most recently seen on CBS’s top-rated soap The Young and the Restless in which she played Genevieve. Amongst Francis’ other soap credits are stints on All My Children and Loving (as Ceara Connor Hunter) and Days of our Lives. Francis’s other credits include Murder She Wrote, Hotel, North and South, Fantasy Island and Roswell High.
