Britney Spears Leaving The X Factor

Fox-mediumIt’s all change for Fox‘s X Factor as Britney Spears is leaving the talent competition.

Spears is leaving the X Factor after just one season on the judges panel. The singer was drafted in alongside Demi Lovato to replace first season judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul. Scherzinger, originally hired as a co-host but was then added to the panel to replace Cheryl Cole, has since joined the UK version of the X Factor as a judge though its unclear whether she will continue with the ITV series.

Spears is reportedly leaving the X Factor because producers were planning to drop her – reports claim though the singer got in first. Spears departure comes hot on the heels of L.A Reid’s news that he won’t be returning for the third season. At the moment that means Simon Cowell is the only judge confirmed to be returning and possibly Demi Lovato – so it means new additions to the judges panel once again.

The Fox series may also change its presenting line-up again as Mario Lopez and Khloe Kardashain were slated by critics. The two were drafted in following the decision to replace first season host Steve Jones. Ratings for the second season of the X Factor were down on the first season despite the high profile casting of Britney Spears.

It’s not all bad news for the X Factor though as it picked up two gongs at the People’s Choice Awards.
