Star Trek sequel to be delayed?
{jcomments on}According to reports the forthcoming Star Trek sequel could have its Summer 2012 premier date pushed back.
The much anticipated sequel to J.J Abrams 2009 reboot of the film franchise is currently scheduled for release on June 29th 2012. Screen-writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman will once again pen the script with cast members such as Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban and Zoe Saldana all expected to reprise their respective roles. However, media reports in America are now suggesting the film’s premier will be pushed back though Paramount Pictures has yet to announce this.
Why the delay? Well writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman told Cinepremiere they don’t expect the movie to begin filming until January 2012. That means there won’t be enough time for the movie to film and be completed through post-production (all those CGI shots take time) in time for the same Summer. In fact Blastr estimates that if the film does begin shooting in January then a Christmas release date is also unlikely – speculating that a Summer 2013 is now most likely. The good news though is Orci and Kurtzman have finally decided on an “amazing” story for the sequel.
