Syfy Axes Alphas After Two Seasons

Syfy has cancelled its sci-fi fantasy series Alphas, starring David Strathairn and Azita Ghanizada, after just two seasons.

The news of Alpha’s demise was announced by cast member Ryan Cartwright on Twitter; the actor told followers “Unfortunately #Alphas is cancelled”. The news was then confirmed by Cartwright’s co-stars on the series Warren Christie and Ghanizada. Christie thanked his followers for watching Alphas while Ghanizada tweeted “What an honor to get to play Rachel for 2 years & to work w/ & for the MOST AMAZING PEOPLE EVER’

Meanwhile Syfy has released a statement confirming the demise of Alphas which reads:

“Syfy has decided not to renew Alphas for a third season. We’ve been proud to present this entertaining, high-quality series for two seasons and to work with an incredible ensemble of talented actors, producers and creatives as well as our partners at BermanBraun Television. We’d like to thank the show’s dedicated regular viewers for their tremendous support”

The demise of Alphas should not come as a too bigger shock for fans considering series two drew to a close in October. Broadcasters are usually quick off the mark to renew shows so those take are not immediately renewed, or very quickly there after, are usually heading for the axe man. There are the odd exception of course to that rule but when it comes to television shows no news is usually bad news.
