Fringe Ratings Rise For Finale

Fox’s quirky cult series Fringe, starring Joshua Jackson and Anna Torv, reached its finale on Friday evening with a slight rise in viewers.

After five seasons and 100 episodes J.J Abrams’ Fringe drew to a close. Fringe was a show that dodged the axe man several times; its low ratings should have spelt its end but Fox kept renewing the series to the delight of fans and bemusement of TV experts and nay-sayers. Overnight figures for Friday reveal that Fringe’s two-hour finale was seen by 3.2 million viewers with a 1.0 18-49 rating. That figure is up on the 2.4 million who tuned in last Friday for The Boy Must Live.

Elsewhere on Friday evening CBS’ Undercover Boss won the 8pm hour with 9.4 million viewers and a 1.9 18-49 rating. ABC’s Last Man Standing meanwhile had 6.6 million viewers with a 1.3 rating followed by Malibu Country with 5.8 million viewers and a 1.1 rating. NBC repeated Betty White’s Off Their Rockers which was seen by 3.6 million viewers with a 0.9 rating. Meanwhile Nikita returned to The CW following its festive break; the Maggie Q drama pulled in 1.2 million viewers with a 0.4 rating.

At 9pm ABC repeated Shark Tank with 5.5 million viewers tuning in; it had a 1.5 18-49 rating. CSI: NY on CBS had 10.6 million viewers with a 1.6 18-49 rating while Dateline on NBC had 5 million viewers with a 1.2 rating. The CW repeated Beauty and the Beast at 9pm but fewer than 1 million viewers were interested; just 890,000 with a 0.3 18-49 rating.
