BBC One orders more Pointless

Alexander Armstrong has confirmed his BBC One tea-time game-show Pointless has been re-commissioned for another 200 episodes.

The host of Pointless confirmed the shows new batch of episodes when speaking to the Radio Times at last night’s National Television Awards in London. Alexander also told the television listings magazine that the game-show would be moving homes “Television Centre is closing down, so we’re moving to a new studio, Elstree Studios, in March.”

Elstree is, of course, the home to EastEnders and Holby City as well as Channel Five’s Big Brother. ITV’s Who Wants To Be A Millionaire is also produced at the studios as was the short-lived game show Red or Black. The live editions of The Voice UK also come from the studios at Elstree.

Pointless was first launched on BBC Two in 2009 and was transferred to BBC One in 2011. In the summer of 2011 the BBC launched prime-time spin-off Pointless Celebrities of which 33 editions have so far been produced featuring the likes of Chris Hollins, Anna Karen, Dawn Porter, Bill Oddie, Harriet Thorpe and Scott Mills.
