Steven Moffat Teases New Doctor Who Episodes

Doctor Who show-runner Steven Moffat has teased fans with what they can expect when the sci-fi series returns in March.

The seventh season of Doctor Who is set to continue on BBC One from Easter Saturday keeping the sci-fi’s now traditional launch over the holiday period. Speaking at the Radio Times cover party the show-runner gave a few small details about the remaining episodes; “We’ll be up in the air, we’re under the water, we’re on a fantastic alien planet, we’re back in time, we’re forward in time, and the Doctor’s greatest secret is in jeopardy”

There are eight episodes of season seven remaining to be aired and they’ll begin on BBC One from Saturday 30th March. Following the eight episodes will a special – or specials its unclear at the moment – to mark the 50th anniversary in November. Details of the remaining episodes are few and far between. Jenna Louise Coleman will continue as 11th Doctor’s (Matt Smith) companion Clara, or is it Oswin? The Cybermen are confirmed as returning while its widely reported that the Ice Warriors and the Zygons will make an appearance but they are just rumours for the moment.

Confirmed guest stars for the remaining episodes include Dame Diana Rigg, her daughter Rachael Stirling, Ashley Walters, David Warner, Liam Cunningham, Dougray Scott and Jessica Raine. The characters of Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh), Jenny (Catrin Stewart) and Strax (Dan Starkey) are also set to appear in the remaining episodes.

Confirmed writers include Moffat himself as well as  Luther creator Neil Cross, Mark Gatiss, Stephen Thompson and Neil Gaiman will be penning his second episode following his hugely successful episode The Doctor’s Wife.

Doctor Who will return to BBC One in the UK, Space in Canada and BBC America in the US on Saturday 30th March.
