American Idol Ratings Fall
Ratings for American Idol fell on Wednesday evening as the 12th season of the talent competition continued on Fox.
According to overnight ratings American Idol dipped but still commanded a hefty audience but nowhere near as high as it once pulled in. An average audience of 15.5 million viewers tuned in with an 18-49 rating of 5.4 – down from 5.5 for last week’s episode.
CBS at 8pm remembered the Greatest Commercial’s from the Super Bowl and that interested 9.8 million viewers with a 2.1 18-49 rating. ABC repeated The Middle which drew 5.5 million viewers with a 1.3 18-49 rating followed by alien sitcom The Neighbors which pulled in 5.2 million viewers and had a 1.6 18-49 rating. Whitney on NBC meanwhile had 3.5 million viewers with a 1.3 rating followed by Guys with Kids which could only manage to attract 2.9 million viewers giving it a 1.1 rating. Finally Stephen Amell drama Arrow on The CW had 3 million viewers with a 0.9 18-49 rating.
At 9pm ABC’s repeat of Modern Family pulled in 6.1 million viewers with a 2.1 rating followed by Suburgatory which was seen by 4.8 million viewers with a 1.8 rating. NBC’s veteran crime/legal drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit attracted 6.3 million viewers with a 1.7 18-49 rating while CBS’s repeat of Criminal Minds entertained 7.1 million viewers with a 1.6 rating. A crucial episode of Supernatural on The CW rounded off the hour with 2.2 million viewers and a 0.9 rating.
At 10pm NBC’s freshman drama Chicago Fire pulled in 7.2 million viewers giving it a 2.0 18-49 rating. Earlier this week the broadcaster announced it had ordered an additional episode of the fire-fighter’s first season.
