ABC orders pilot of The Syndicate remake

ABC-mediumABC has ordered a pilot based on BBC One‘s The Syndicate.

Penned by ER‘s David Zabel and Jason Richman (Detroit 1-8-7), the US version titled Lucky 7, will follow the same format of the Kay Mellor drama, with the series based around a group of seven employees at a Queens service station who strike it rich.

As with the UK series, each episode will focus on a different character, and each season will follow a different group of characters.

Lucky 7 will be ABC‘s final drama pilot pick-up this season – the network has previously commissioned remakes of UK shows Spy and Pulling.

BBC One recommissioned the UK version of The Syndicate for a second series in April, with new episodes expected to return to the channel later this year. The first series saw a group of supermarket workers scoop the jackspot, while the upcoming second series will reportedly see the action focused on a group of workers at a hospital who also win big.
