Jason Gardiner Blasts Dancing on Ice Judges
Jason Gardiner has criticised his fellow Dancing on Ice judges for their decision to send Shayne Ward home on Sunday evening.
X Factor winner Shayne Ward was voted off Dancing on Ice after ending up in the bottom two against former EastEnders actor Matt Lapinskas. Ward’s exit was something of a surprise especially given Lapinskas skate-off performance.
The Dancing on Ice judges opted to save Lapinskas and send Ward home instead except for Jason Gardiner who voted to keep Ward in the competition despite having been critical of his performance in recent weeks. Following the decision Gardiner spoke on Twitter about Ward’s exit stating “In the skate off mistakes should count. We got rid of Pammy week 1 & it should be no different. #stick2rules.”
Unhappy viewers also took to Twitter to criticise the judges decision and predictably allegations that Dancing on Ice being fixed were made. Gardiner later took to Facebook to clarify his Twitter comments and deny allegations of fixing. “Last night’s controversial Save Me skate has caused much consternation on Twitter so I would like to first address the claims that it was ‘a fix’. I can hand on heart guarantee that the judges on DOI are in no way influenced by our producers or ITV in who we choose to save. If that were the case I certainly wouldn’t have been asked back because as you all know, I always speak my mind.”
On the issue of the skate-off itself and Shayne Ward’s better performance the judge wrote “Shayne did brilliantly during both routines and I truly believe he was coming into his own. Yes Matt is the better skater and performer, I certainly didn’t want to see him go, but surely the Save Me Skate should be solely based on that performance and what makes it so unpredictable is that it’s brutal.”
Ward’s controversial exit from Dancing on Ice follows Anthea Turner, Oona King, Lauren Goodger and Pamela Anderson.
