Robin Sachs Dies Aged 61
British actor Robin Sachs, known for a variety of roles in various cult and science fiction shows, has died at the age of 61.
Perhaps his most familiar role to audiences was that of Ethan Rayne in several episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The villainous character cropped up in four episodes of the hit series between 1997 and 2000; he was introduced as an old enemy of watcher Giles (Anthony Head).
The actor’s death was reported on his official website with an entry stating “Please join us in raising a glass to Robin – goodbye, dear friend. Thank you for all the laughter and the cookies. We will miss you so very much”
On the big-screen he appeared in the cult classic Galaxy Quest which was a spoof of various sci-fi shows including the Star Trek franchise. Sachs appeared in Star Trek: Voyager in 2001. The actor also appeared in Babylon 5 a series which was widely seen as a rival to the Trek franchise. Sachs appeared in the Babylon 5 television movie In The Beginning as well as several episodes of the regular series playing different roles.
The actor’s other notable credits include Jurassic Park: The Lost World, Torchwood: Miracle Day, Castle, NCIS, Murder She Wrote and Alias. In 1991 he appeared in the Dynasty reunion movie as Adam Carrington replacing original actor Gordon Thomson who was unavailable due to his role in the daytime soap opera Santa Barbara.
