Corrie’s Fiz talks about baby kidnap plot
Coronation Street actress Jennie McAlpine has revealed that she hopes there will be a ‘Free Tyrone campaign’ as further twists emerge in the soap’s Tyrone/Kirsty saga.
Viewers will see Tyone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) and Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine) flee the cobbles later this week with his baby daughter Ruby. Tyrone decides to take such drastic action after his former partner Kirsty Soames (Natalie Gumede) refuses to let him see Ruby.

Speaking to What’s On TV about the plot, McAlpine revealed:
“Tyrone tells the police Fiz had nothing to do with the abduction, even though she did agree to go along with it. But that’s Tyrone through and through, he’s selfless. The police let Fiz go but keep Tyrone. Maybe there will be a ‘Free Tyrone’ campaign!”
Tyrone was arrested last month following allegations Kirsty made to police that he had been abusing her following her fall down the stairs. Regular viewers will know that Kirsty was the one abusing Tyrone with the storyline highlighting the issue of male domestic abuse.
Earlier plot developments saw Kirsty reveal to a packed church on the day of her and Tyrone’s wedding that he had been having an affair with Fiz. Fiz had initially been helping Tyrone put together evidence of Kirsty’s abuse, before their relationship progressed.
Coronation Street airs tonight at the later time of 9.30pm on ITV.
