Thursday Ratings: Community Returns To Ratings Rise
The return of NBC comedy Community on Thursday evening saw a slight rise in ratings.
The path to season four has certainly been bumpy for the critically acclaimed Community; creator Dan Harmon was replaced as show-runner with David Guarascio and Moses Port drafted in to replace him. Then came the news that Chevy Chase would be departing during the series and coupled with its constant delays fans of Community have good reason to wonder how season four will pan out on-air. NBC has said it is open to ordering a fifth season but many experts predict the fourth season will likely be its last. But on Thursday evening there was some good news for Community fans because its season four premier did see a slight rise in ratings; 3.9 million viewers tuned in giving it a 1.9 18-49 rating.
Elsewhere CBS‘ ratings giant The Big Bang Theory pretty much sunk Fox‘s American Idol. The comedy, starring Jim Parsons, pulled in 18.9 million viewers with a hefty 6.2 18-49 rating! Meanwhile over the 8pm hour American Idol pulled in 13.2 million viewers with a 4.1 18-49 rating; while still a good performance for any other show there’s no denying Idol‘s power is slipping. Following The Big Bang Theory on CBS at 8.30 was Two and a Half Men which was seen by 14.1 million viewers with a 4.1 18-49 rating. A repeat of Shark Tank on ABC had 4.7 million viewers with a 1.3 18-49 rating while The CW’s supernatural drama The Vampire Diaries mustered 2.5 million viewers with a 1.1 rating.
