Scott Grimes and Gillian Alexy Join NCIS: Los Angeles Spin-Off

NCIS_Los-AngelesScott Grimes and Gillian Alexy have joined the cast of the planned NCIS: Los Angeles spin-off.

The spin-off will be launched as a “back-door pilot” during the current series of NCIS: Los Angeles with a two-part story which will introduce the characters of the new entry in the franchise. Deadline reports that Grimes and Alexy are the latest additions to the cast. According to the news-site little is known about Grimes’ character but Alexy will play Claire; a smart FBI agent.

Scott Grimes played Dr. Archie Morris on ER between 2003 and 2009 and also provides the voice of Steve Smith in Fox‘s animated comedy American Dad! Australian actress Gillian Alexy played Gitta Novak last year in Damages and between 2006 and 2009 played Tayler Geddes in the Australian drama McLeod’s Daughter.

Earlier this week it was announced that John Corbett had signed up to play Roy Quaid, a former NCIS Special Agent who was forced to retire from the service, in the new spin-off while Edwin Hodge had been cast as Kai Ashe the “resident techie”.

The “back-door” pilot for the new spin-off is how NCIS: Los Angeles launched and NCIS itself. As NCIS was a spin-off itself, from JAG, that makes the new proposed Los Angeles spin-off a “fourth generation” spin-off which is believed to be a first on television.
