Gillian Anderson open to X Files return

X FilesGillian Anderson has said she would be open to appearing in another X Files movie if the script was right.

Anderson played Dana Scully in the Fox series also played the FBI agent in two movies as well – most recently in 2008’s I Want to Believe. Unfortunately the movie didn’t win over the critics and was a box office flop which put the future of the franchise in doubt. In a new interview with The Daily Beast Gillian Anderson has revealed she would reprise her role if the script was right. ‘If a good script comes along for another film, then I’m up for it, and so is David So is Chris…I don’t see any reason not to do it if the script is good and Fox wants to go ahead and put the money behind it. Now, I don’t know if there’s a script, I don’t know whether Fox is even remotely interested, so it’s completely out of my hands. But I’d be up for it.’
Since the X Files ended Anderson has carved out a career for her self on British television appearing in a wide range of dramas – usually with a period setting. Any Human Heart, Bleak House, Moby Dick, The Crimson Petal and the White and mostly recently BBC One‘s critically acclaimed Great Expectations as Miss Havisham. The actress also appeared in the critically acclaimed 2006 film The Last King of Scotland. Anderson recently revealed she was offered a role in Downton Abbey but turned it down.
