Thomas Kretschmann Cast in NBC’S Dracula

NBC-whiteActor Thomas Kretschmann is the latest casting announced for Sky Living and NBC‘s forthcoming Dracula.

TV Line report that Kretschmann will play Van Helsing in the newest adaptation of Bram Stoker’s classic. However, the new adaptation will present a slightly different take on Van Helsing with the vampire hunter poising more danger to the public than Count Dracula himself. TV Line describe the character as “a brilliant professor obsessed with revenge and power [who] may be a greater threat to the public than the titular count.”

The cast of Dracula includes Jonathan Rhys-Meyers as the Count, Jessica De Gouw as Mina Murray, Oliver Jackson-Cohen as Jonathan Harker, Katie McGrath as Lucy Westenra and Nonso Anozie as R.M Renfield.

Kretschmann played Captain Englehorn in Peter Jackson’s 2006 adaptation of King Kong and his other credits include The Sinking of the Laconia, Valkyrie, Bionic Woman, Flashforward, The Cape and The River.
