Lesley Manville Joins An Adventure In Space and Time

Doctor-Who-original-logoLesley Manville has been cast in the Doctor Who anniversary drama An Adventure In Space and Time.

The BBC Two drama, penned by Mark Gatiss, charts the genesis of the sci-fi series and its early years on television. The special drama is part of the BBC’s celebrations for Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary. The new edition of the Radio Times reveals that Lesley Manville will play William Hartnell’s wife Heather in the special.

Actress Lesley Manville has a long and varied career; another forthcoming role is in Sky Atlantic‘s biopic on James Bond creator Ian Fleming. Manville has played tough lawyer Phyllis Gladstone in several episodes of Law & Order UK and played Margaret Thatcher in Channel Four’s docu-drama The Queen. The actress also appeared in BBC One‘s critically acclaimed adaptation of Cranford playing widower Mrs. Rose. Manville’s other notable roles include North & South, Poirot, Vera Drake, Midsomer Murders, The Cazalets and Solider Solider.
