Michael E Knight Not Returning To All My Children – For Now
Michael E Knight will not be part of the cast of All My Children when the revived soap returns but the actor isn’t ruling out returning all together.
At the end of the month production will start on Prospect Park’s new episodes of All My Children and fans of the former ABC daytime soap are waiting news of just who will still be present in Pine Valley when episodes resume. In a new interview with Soaps in Depth actor Michael E Knight has revealed that he won’t be part of the revived soap – for the time being.
The actor told the magazine “I’m not saying ‘no,’ I’m just saying ‘not right now“. The news will probably disappoint some fans as it comes after the announcement that Cady McClain will be reprising her role of Dixie. Of McClain’s decision to return to AMC the actor said “Cady’s such a wonderful actress who cares about her work. She understands the show and what it takes to do it. It’ll be great to give Dixie some time to live in Pine Valley for a while away from Tad. Then, when we start working together we’ll have some time to deal with it. I’ll be very interested to see what happens — and I’ll be watching!”
Michael E Knight took over the role of Tad Martin in 1982; the character was previously played by Matthew Anton and John E Dunn. Knight remained in the role, on and off, through till the television finale in 2011. The character’s relationship with Dixie earned them the title of “super-couple”.
Knight isn’t the only actor to state he won’t be returning to AMC just yet; Cameron Mathison and Alicia Minshew have both stated the door has been left open to future returns – both are currently busy elsewhere. Yesterday it was reported that Susan Lucci had agreed to reprise her role of Erica Kane but only for one episode! It was also reported yesterday that David Canary had agreed to return as well.
That means so far Cady McClain, David Canary, Jordi Vilasuso, Jill Larson, Thorsten Kaye, Darnell Williams, Debbi Morgan, Lindsay Hartley and Vincent Irizarry have all signed up to Prospect Park’s revival.
Let the show begin!! With good writing these great actors will win a new category of soap awards. I believe in AMC always have and I still haven’t watched The Chew. The ones holding out are probably waiting for signs of success. . I’m ready
