Dallas Ratings Slump On Channel 5
Ratings for the resurrected 1980s drama Dallas slumped on Channel 5 last night in its new 11pm time-slot.
The third episode of the drama starring Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray saw ratings hit a new low. Dallas has been moved from its 9pm slot by Channel 5, to 11pm, following disappointing overnight ratings for the first two episodes of its second season.
If the move to 11pm was designed to increase ratings it failed; just 327,000 viewers watched Dallas last night. Given its late time-slot a large portion of the audience will have recorded the episode or may have been unaware its time-slot had changed.
Yesterday it was revealed that the season two premier of Dallas on Channel 5 had a final rating figure of 1.24 million viewers – up considerably on its original overnight figure.
No I missed it -bloody stupid time to have it on.
Seeming the tv guides were already printed showing Dallas at 9pm and it was moved abruptly to 11pm, is it any wonder the ratings dropped drastically. Most people didn’t even realise this and missed it. The advertising was non existent for this. Yet as I’ve said on a previous post there was a drastic increase on ratings on dallas premier. Chanel 5 should be ashamed of their actions.
DALLAS was a tired 1980s soap when LORIMAR axed it in 1993 it was rubbish now sadly after the death of LARRY HAGMAN there will be no more JR so i say just kill it off before it becomes like ELDORADO and bring back ATVs CROSSROADS in its place that would work.
I missed it too. Is this episode being repeated does anyone know?
I agree JANET as CHANNEL 5 should advertise DALLAS is on at 11pm thats what the BBC did with it in the 1980s. It was the same when ATV made CROSSROADS you knew what time the show was on and you always watched it. CHANNEL 5 should be ashamed of themselves over DALLAS and LEONARD KATZMAN would turn in his grave.
