Michael Jackson in Blackpool extravaganza
Michael Jackson arrives in Blackpool for star billing.
“Michael Jackson inspired whole generations of music lovers and it’s great that the Madame Tussauds travelling tour can visit fans across the world bringing them closer to their idol.” – Matthew Titherington, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Blackpool,
No you are not seeing things. The King of pop, Michael Jackson, has just made his entrance in Blackpool earlier today with a show stopping performance as he was joined by 160 school children. While the real Thriller singer may have died in 2009 his music legacy goes on, and in Blackpool its courtesy of Madame Tussauds.
Taking inspiration from three wax figures which make up the travelling tour, the school children from across Blackpool performed an energetic dance routine in homage to one of music’s greatest legends.
The three figures include Michael as a child during the Jackson Five era, in the 1990’s when on tour for the ‘Dangerous’ album and towards the end of his career when he launched the ‘This Is It’ tour.
Blackpool’s own Fever Dance School and Urban Dance Project have provided the children with expert dance coaching and performed the routine with them on the day. Michael conducted two sittings with the Madame Tussauds expert team where hundreds of precise measurements taken, to ensure the figures are as authentic as possible.
“We’re so happy that the arrival of the tour in Blackpool has brought so many new fans of Michael’s music and dance routines together to perform their own take on his legendary dance moves.” – Matthew Titherington, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Blackpool,
