CBS Drama To Repeat Waterloo Road
Digital channel CBS Drama is to repeat BBC One drama Waterloo Road.
The digital channel has acquired the UK repeat rights to the popular BBC One drama which currently airs on Thursday evenings. Waterloo Road is produced for the BBC by Shed Media who created Bad Girls and Footballer’s Wives for ITV both of which have seen repeats on CBS Drama.
“Waterloo Road is an exciting title for CBS Drama. It bolsters our primetime schedule with another favourite UK series that viewers can enjoy from the very beginning – following the ever popular Mile High, Cutting It, Clocking Off and Playing The Field – and launches our new Brit primetime double bills from 10th April. We’re confident this gripping drama will resonate with our viewers.” – Alina Florea, Director of Programming
CBS Drama’s repeats of Waterloo Road will start with the very first episode from 2006; the first season was made up of eight episodes. The second series was extended to 12 while longer runs became the norm from series three onwards.
The first series starred Angela Griffin, Jason Merrells, Jill Halfpenny, Denise Welch, Jamie Glover and Camilla Power. Actors Jason Done and Philip Martin Brown were also part of the original cast and eight seasons on – and various disasters along the way – remain part of the cast. Later additions to the cast of Waterloo Road include Amanda Burton, Neil Morrissey, William Rush, Chelsee Healey, Eva Pope, Chris Geere, Elizabeth Berrington, Jaye Jacobs and Rebecca Ryan.
Earlier this week CBS Drama announced it had acquired the rights to repeat the Dallas spin-off series Knots Landing which ran between 1979 and 1993 and starred Joan Van Ark, Michele Lee and Ted Shackelford.
CBS Drama will begin repeating Waterloo Road from 10th April. New episodes of Waterloo Road currently airs on Thursday evenings at 8pm on BBC One.
