So You Think You Can Be A Blue Peter Presenter? for CBBC
CBBC stars Dick and Dom – presenters Richard McCourt and Dominic Wood – are to host an original new series, So You Think You Can Be A Blue Peter Presenter? – where some of the country’s best new presenting talent will compete to join Barney Harwood and Helen Skelton as the third member of the Blue Peter gang.
In a first for the world’s longest-running children’s TV show, the next lucky presenter to join the Blue Peter team will compete through challenge-based heats to reach a final where the winner will be chosen by the CBBC audience.
Double BAFTA-winning presenting team Dick and Dom will bring their much-loved mix of humour, energy and insights to the series, where they will be joined by a panel of judges. The judges will choose which Blue Peter hopefuls make it through each elimination stage, but they can’t influence the ultimate winner – that’s in the hands of the CBBC audience.
The CBBC team is involving the audience from the very start as well, offering them an opportunity, before filming starts, to go online and vote for one of the challenges that the Blue Peter hopefuls will have to rise to.
Dick and Dom will also be returning to CBBC with a second series of Absolute Genius With Dick And Dom, which investigates more of the geniuses that have shaped our modern world. Plus Diddy Movies II – The Sequel is set to see the duo continue their career in the movie making business with premieres of their western, ‘rockumentary’ and many more potential smash hits.
CBBC Controller Cheryl Taylor comments: “Working on Blue Peter is a dream job for any aspiring presenter and our search for a new face to join Helen and Barney will generate a huge level of excitement for CBBC viewers. With the irrepressible Dick and Dom on hand to orchestrate proceedings we anticipate high tension and high jinks!”
So You Think You Can Be A Blue Peter Presenter will come to CBBC in summer 2013 and further details on the show will be published soon. Absolute Genius 2 and Diddy 2 are scheduled for 2014.
All three series are developed and produced by the Salford based CBBC Productions in-house team.
Anyone interested in being considered for the Blue Peter position, must email for details on how to apply. Unfortunately any unsolicited showreels and CVs sent in through other avenues will not be considered.
