Celebrities place charity bets at Aintree
Stars including Coleen Rooney and Chelsee Healey will be raising money for their favourite charities as part of the Grand National Charity Bet scheme.
Each celebrity has been allocated a £100 bet, courtesy of Aintree Racecourse’s official betting partner Betfred, on one of the horses running in the Grand National, with all winnings rounded up to a guaranteed £1000 donation to their chosen charities.

- WAG Coleen Rooney will be hoping Junior is a frontrunner this year with any winnings going to Alder Hey Imagine Appeal, the official charity of the 2012 John Smith’s Grand National meeting.
- Desperate Scousewive, Amanda Harrington, will also be supporting the Alder Hey Imagine Appeal, Europe’s busiest children’s hospital, by placing her money on Viking Blond in the hope of making a donation to the great cause.
- Singer Rebecca Ferguson is adding yet another chance for Alder Hey Imagine Appeal to win a generous donation, X-Factor star Rebecca will be placing her £100 on West End Rocker.
- Strictly Come Dancing contestant actress Chelsee Healey will be betting on Synchronised in aid of Great Ormond St Hospital, a charity which provides world-class care to hundreds of children every day.
- Granada Reports presenter, Paul Crone (pictured right), will also be joining in by placing a bet on Planet Of Sound, in aid of the North West Air Ambulance.
The 2012 Grand National is the last to be broadcast on the BBC.
Channel 4 will exclusively broadcast all the crown jewels of the racing calendar as of 2013 – Aintree’s three-day John Smith’s Grand National meeting, the Investec Derby Festival from Epsom Downs, Royal Ascot and the QIPCO British Champions Day from Ascot come to the Channel.
They will sit alongside long-established coverage of Cheltenham Festival, Newbury, York, Chester, Glorious Goodwood racecourses and the Flat Season QIPCO British Champions Series. The four-year partnership will deliver around 90 days a year of terrestrial coverage of horseracing on Channel 4.
