Recording begins on fifth and final Misfits series
Misfits starring Joseph Gilgun, Karla Crome, Nathan McMullen, Matt Stokoe and Natasha O’Keeffe will sign on for community service one last time in the fifth and final run of the award-winning series as it goes into production this week.
The new series marks the first anniversary of the storm and a support group forms on the estate for those people who find having a super power isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
“Like… the ability to knit visions of the future, or to shag unwanted powers out of other people or to transform into a turtle. And as Dark Rudy likes to talk-slash-moan, it should come as no surprise that he is the first of our gang to start attending. And it’s here that he sees a very different future facing the team – one which could change things forever.” – E4
The new eight part series will be written by the show’s creator Howard Overman also of BBC One hit fantasy drama Merlin.
Roberto Troni, drama commissioning editor E4 says, “Misfits took the superhero genre and spun it on its head in an utterly unique and ambitious way. It was big, clever, funny and deliriously entertaining! E4 couldn’t be more proud of what the show has achieved. It has won countless awards, has launched the careers of directors and actors, and has played a vital part in E4’s continuing success. Howard and co have some BIG plans for the last series and like the characters in the show, it won’t be going quietly. Strap in and enjoy one final glorious ride!”
The last outing of Misfits will air on E4 in autumn 2013
