John Barrowman Lands Scandal Role

John-BarrowmanJohn Barrowman has signed up for a guest stint in Shonda Rhimes’ ABC drama Scandal.

Barrowman‘s casting in the drama series was announced by Rhimes via Twitter on Tuesday. The show-runner tweeted to her followers “John Barrowman is here working today at Scandal. Life is good”

There are, as yet, no details on what character Barrowman will be playing but sources state he is likely to appear in two episodes kicking off with the penultimate episode of season two.

Barrowman previously appeared in Shonda Rhimes pilot Gilded Lilys which was not picked up by ABC last year. The actor is currently appearing in The CW’s hit new drama Arrow as Malcolm Merlyn. His other notable roles include the eco-terrorist Patrick Logan in Desperate Housewives and, of course, Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who and its spin-off Torchwood.

The actor has been quite vocal of his desire to return to Doctor Who for its forthcoming 50th anniversary. However, Barrowman recently stated that he will not be appearing in the special episode to mark the anniversary. The BBC has confirmed though that David Tennant and Billie Piper are reprising their respective roles.
