ITV to meet with Ofcom over ‘Weight Watchers promotion’
Broadcasting regulator Ofcom has demanded to meet with ITV following an interview which breached broadcasting code.
It came after a viewer complained that actress Patsy Kensit mentioned Weight Watchers several times during an interview on daytime chat show TheĀ Alan Titchmarsh Show. She is paid by the weight loss company to endorse them.
A similar complaint was made when former X Factor judge Dannii Minogue appeared on breakfast show Lorraine on ITV. She was seen to be promoting a brand of milk which she was linked to.
ITV said of the Patsy incident that the remarks she made were “brief and not unduly prominent.”
