UTV appoints new Head of Local Programming

Paul Clarke UTVUTV has appointed Paul Clarke as Head of Local Programmes, with responsibility for all in-house productions.

Paul joined UTV in 1981 and since then, has held a number of key roles within the company, including those of Executive Producer and most recently, Channel Editor.

Over three decades he has acquired extensive television experience, including roles as a producer, director and editor on a wide range of programmes including news, sport and entertainment as well as documentaries and features, including UTV’s award-winning current affairs’ series Insight.

Insight scooped two world awards at the New York Festivals’ International Television and Film Awards in 2011 for the documentary, ‘Bloody Justice’ about Bloody Sunday and the Saville Report, which was produced, directed and edited by Paul.

The following year, ‘Insight: The Resurrection of Brendan Smyth’ – also produced, directed and edited by Paul – won a Royal Television Society (RTS) Award.

Paul Clarke says: “Our local programmes are vitally important to maintaining UTV’s strong bond with its audience. The launch of our new series, The Magazine with Sarah Travers is an exciting project and together with other programme plans, indicates UTV’s commitment to providing quality programmes relevant to our audience.”

Paul started his career as a Graduate Engineer with the BBC before moving to UTV in 1981.
