Dancing With The Stars pays tribute to Boston Marathon survivor

Dancing-with-the-Stars-mediThe American version of Strictly Come Dancing – Dancing With the Stars – has aired a tribute to a professional ballroom dancer who lost  half of her left leg following the Boston Marathon bombings. The special inclusion in the programme featuring Adrianne Haslet-Davis was broadcast as part of Tuesday night’s results show.

“Dancing is my life,” she is quoted by the Boston Herald, adding, “Yeah, having my foot blown off, that really sucks. But I can’t wallow in woe is me.”

The 32-year-old suffered such injuries from the bomb blast last month that left leg had to be amputated from below the knee. However Haslet-Davis has stated she aims to return as to the ballroom once more to dance.

A fund set up for the performer has raised more than $220,000 to cover her medical expenses. The American version of Strictly is produced by ABC Television who recorded a profile feature on Haslet-Davis for the programme on Saturday at Boston’s Spaulding Rehabilitation Centre, prior to the bombing she had been working as a dance instructor.
