Inbetweeners confirm ‘final film’
A message posted on the official Facebook page for The Inbetweeners confirms movie sequel next year.
It was reported today in The Sun newspaper that the gang will be heading down under to Australia to go backpacking in the outback.
A statement posted on Facebook has stated that the film due out in 2014 will be the final film from them, wrapping up The Inbetweeners brand which first began in 2008 on E4. Joe Thomas, James Buckley, Simon Bird and Blake Harrison will be back to play their Inbetweener characters.
“Facebook ‘Fwends’ – we told you you’d be the first to hear about Inbetweeners stuff, and although that’s still true The Sun went rifling and found some stuff out about a sequel.
Nothing’s signed yet, and Australia is just one of the ideas we’re kicking around, but we hope to have a new and definitely final film for you some time next year.” – The Inbetweeners
After three series, and ratings peaking at near 4 million viewers, the show creators called time on the TV run, but put together a film which was released in 2011.
It featured the four main characters Jay, Will, Simon and Neil on their first summer holiday to Malia in Crete. It is estimated that the film made around £80 million worldwide.
