Corrie’s Liz Dawn ‘is all right’ after heart attack
Former long running Coronation Street actress Liz Dawn is recovering after suffering a slight heart attack it has been revealed.
The popular actress played Vera Duckworth (pictured in the 1990s above) in the ITV soap from 1974 to 2008, with a final appearance in 2010.
Tabloid reports suggest that the 73-year-old retired actress was at her home in Greater Manchester when she fell ill complaining of chest pains. She was rushed to hospital after her husband of 48-years Donald came to her rescue.
Liz, decided to retire from performing in 2007 due to the incurable lung disease emphysema which was making it difficult to carry on. The character was killed off in 2008, but returned as ‘a ghost’ in 2010 when screen husband Jack – played by the late Bill Tarmey – was also sent to soap opera heaven. (pictured below)

Liz’s hubby Donald Ibbertson, added, “She had a slight heart attack. She is all right.”
Liz has returned home to recuperate.
